Harrogate Charity Supports Mental Health Awareness Week

A Harrogate charity, which aims to reduce loneliness and isolation experienced by older people, is raising awareness to mark Mental Health Awareness Week. 

  • Supporting Older People currently works with 200 people in Harrogate and Knaresborough 
  • It runs a home visiting scheme as well as a number of activities 
  • At the start of Mental Health Awareness Week, it's calling for more volunteers 

Supporting Older People helps people in Harrogate and Knaresborough. 

It runs a home visiting service, which sees older people paired up with a volunteer. 

The charity also runs a series of activities and groups to help older people feel less lonely and isolated.  

It currently supports around 200 older people through the home visiting scheme but has around 20 people on its waiting list. 

At the start of Mental Health Awareness Week, it's calling for more volunteers.
